Lively Blue is a tapestry commission by Dovecot Studios. Based on a study in ink. The piece was selected due to its richness, subtlety, and the challenge it posed for the weaver.
Lively Blue as all of the work from The Divine Sky series, is a reflection on the challenging colonial history of indigo and the dye processes used in Mali.

Collaboration
Collaboration is an important aspect of my creative practice. This work was based on one of my ink drawings and was translated beautifully into a tapestry by weaver Ben Hymers in cotton and linen with a cotton warp.
Ben listened to 'Indigo: In Search of the Colour That Seduced the World' by Catherine McKinley, a book suggested to him by the Artist.
